Your child is an individual and their education should meet their developmental and learning needs. Over 100 years ago Maria Montessori understood that all children, even same age children differ in the pace of their development and their learning styles. She saw that when children were allowed to make choices in their learning experiences that they become motivated from within by their natural curiosity and love for knowledge. She recognized that children learn by doing and the excitement of discovering concepts, comes through the use of their senses. Through her observations of children, she developed a different approach to education. Her approach is described as an education of the whole child; academically, emotionally, aesthetically, and socially.

Montessori classroms are mixed-aged, this allows children to progress through the curriculum at their own pace. Because children naturally learn from one another, in a mixed-aged classroom younger children are inspired by the work of older children, which motivates everyone to do challenging work. For the older children in mixed-age classroom, they learn to be effective and compassionate leaders.
The prepared environments of Montessori classrooms are designed so that they can meet each child's developmental and learning sensitivities. Children are drawn to the multitude of beautiful hands-on materials that encourage them to enhance their knowledge through self-directed projects as well as teacher-initiated learning.
